New policy for the coalition is set at the Annual General Meeting when organizational members submit and vote on resolutions. These resolutions shape the direction of Great Lakes United, and can help enhance your group’s efforts by gaining the recognition and support of an international coalition.
To submit a resolution for consideration at the Annual General Meeting, e-mail them to Bonnie Danni at bonnie@glu.org, or send by regular mail to:

All resolutions for consideration must be received by April 15. Unlike in previous years we will not be accepting resolutions from the floor.
Why submit a resolution?
The Great Lakes United coalition regularly passes policy and position resolutions throughout the year to define a strong ecosystem approach to protect and restore the Great Lakes – St. Lawrence River basin. We depend on input from organizational members at the Annual General Meeting to guide those policies. New policy for the coalition is set once a year by members at the AGM, while position resolutions that are consistent with existing Great Lakes United policy can be set throughout the year.
Submitting a resolution can enhance your group's work to achieve a specific goal by earning recognition and support from an international coalition. In 2007 Great Lakes United members passed several resolutions, including, support for a moratorium on ocean vessel access to the Great Lakes, opposition to a waste-to-energy proposal for used tires, opposition to the movement of radioactive material by barge, and a call to amend the Canadian Nuclear Liability Act.
All of Great Lakes United's resolutions since 1997 are available online and can be found here.
